DWI arrest of Kansas driver traveling with 5-year-old son

On Dec. 8, Thobela Sovara, 38, Overland Park, KS, was arrested by the MSHP for felony DWI, felony endangering welfare of a child, misdemeanor speeding, and infraction fail to display plates on a motor vehicle.
According to the probable cause statement by Tpr. N. Regan, Sovara’s vehicle was traveling at 98 mph in a 70 mph zone when he was located at the 58 mile marker. Sovara failed a series of field sobriety tests and was arrested for DWI. He and his five-year-old son were transported to the Cameron Police Department, where his blood alcohol read 0.168. A computer check revealed two prior DWI convictions. He was transported to the Daviess-DeKalb Regional Jail, and bond was denied.

• Shelbe Reickard, 27, Cameron, was arrested on a misdemeanor Daviess County failure to appear warrant for passing bad checks. Bond was set at $200 cash only.
• Thobela Sovara, 38, Overland Park, KS, was arrested by the MSHP for felony DWI, felony endangering welfare of a child, misdemeanor speeding, and infraction fail to display plates on a motor vehicle. Bond was denied.

• Melanie Myers, 18, Gallatin, was arrested on a felony Daviess County failure to appear warrant for possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. Bond was set at $50,000 cash only.
• Duncan Lewis, 20, Lenexa, KS, was arrested on a felony Daviess County bond violation warrant for delivery of a controlled substance and speeding. Bond was denied.
