Gallatin’s Lady Bulldogs took advantage of a short-handed Gilman City club Tuesday, overwhelming the visiting Lady Hawks, 12-1.
Seniors Macie McNeely and Madalyn Shubert went out winners in their final home game and all contributed to their team’s fifth victory of the season. Shubert had a hit, a walk and scored twice. McNeely went 1-for-3 with a run scored. With two hits, Aubrey Burns drove in two runs with a pair of hits and scored twice.
Caragan Baker had three hits and scored three runs for the Lady Bulldogs. Maddi Michael went 2-for-3 with a run scored and three rbi. Presley Wells reached on a bunt and scored. Ella Bradford had a hit, rbi and scored twice. Addie Riley had an rbi-single in the second inning against the Lady Hawks, who, with only eight players, competed minus a second baseman. McKinley Waters also scored a run for Gallatin.
Baker scattered three hits over five innings in earning the win on the mound. Gilman City’s lone run came in the third inning when Riley Whitt reached base on a bunt single and scored on Lindsey Snuffer’s two-out triple.
Gallatin takes a 5-14 record into district play this week. The Lady Bulldogs will face on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. the winner of the King City vs. Winston first round game in Class 1, District 13 Tournament held at King City High School.
