FFA Week

This year the Gallatin FFA Chapter celebrated the National FFA Week during the fall in the hopes of avoiding winter weather. The days of the week were themed as follows; Monday – Rhinestone cowboy/cowgirl; Tuesday – wear your FFA Jacket to school day and Teacher Appreciation Breakfast; Wednesday – wear a hat to school day or wear camo; Wednesday night was the Area II Greenhand Initiation Ceremony; Thursday – Dress in flannel day and Barnyard Day; Friday – Tractor wars day and drive your tractor to school day. On Wednesday students and teachers donated one dollar to wear their hats around the school; this money will be donated to the high school backpack buddies program.

Fall Grasslands Contest

On Oct. 10, three freshman FFA members participated in the annual Grasslands contest in Maysville. Lane Dowell, Presley Wells, and Addie Riley attended the contest and tested in the areas of wildlife management, plant ID, soils, and cattle use on grasslands. The team placed sixth out of nine teams; this young freshman team will return next fall and compete again.
