GRC teams match up according to their finish in each division but since St. Joseph Christian does not field a softball team, the Lady Bulldogs have no one to play in what was to be their last home game of the season. Gallatin has added an Oct. 14 home game with Gilman City and that will be Senior Night.

Gallatin and Albany got an early start Tuesday due to incoming weather and the Lady Warriors jumped out quickly with a 4-1 first inning lead on the way to an 11-1 win. Caragan Baker singled and scored Gallatin’s lone run. Addie Riley singled and Madalyn Shubert doubled in the five-inning contest.

Monday’s action with KCI Conference Lawson saw the home Lady Cardinals score five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to overcome a 5-3 Lady Bulldog lead. Lawson took the 8-5 victory despite being outhit, 12 to 7.

Baker and Maddi Michael had three hits each at the top of the Lady Bulldog lineup and each drove in a run.  Baker also scored three times. Shubert singled twice and drove in a run. Presley Wells singled twice and plated a pair of runs. Aubrey Burns and McKinley Waters singled and scored for Gallatin.

Gallatin dropped Saturday’s opening game of the Nan Carter Memorial Tournament to Trenton, 15-2, and fell, 10-5, to South Harrison in the consolation semifinal round. The Lady Bulldogs led East Harrison, 15-0, when play was suspended due to lightning.

The Lady Bulldogs took advantage of five hits, five walks and four East Harrison errors. Baker led with a pair of hits. Shubert, Beck and Burns also hit safely. Scoring runs for Gallatin were Baker (2), Michael (2), Beck (2), Shubert, Addie Riley, Brianna Filley, Christin Burns, Aubrey Burns (2), Waters (2) and Wells.

Baker pitched two innings of one-hit ball.

Stanberry opened last Thursday’s game with 10 runs in the first inning on the way to a 15-1 victory in Stanberry. Gallatin’s lone run came in the fourth inning from Michael. Shubert doubled and Baker and Burns each singled for Gallatin. Only two of 13 runs scored with Baker on the mound were earned.

Weather permitting, Gallatin will travel to East Buchanan on Monday and King City on Tuesday of next week.
