Gallatin’s golfing duo, Elle Copple and Claire Hemry, teamed up Monday for a second place finish in the Albany Best Shot Tournament. The Lady Bulldogs combined for a score of 92 to finish 10 strokes behind the top team from East Atchison.
Jenna Rains and Jessica Hart combined for a round of 100 to place fifth in the competition. Jenni Teel and Riley Dutro teamed up to shoot 109.
With a nine-hole round of 51, Copple came away with the medalist honor Tuesday at the four team meet held in Bethany. Gallatin topped all schools with a combined 216. Worth County finished second with 229, followed by North Harrison, 253; and Albany, 263. Worth County’s Hannah McElvain was runnerup in the meet.
Competition last Thursday at Daviess County Country Club saw visiting Maysville edge Gallatin by a single stroke, 223 to 224. South Harrison also competed with three individuals.
Copple shot a nine-hole round of 53 to place second individually behind Maysville’s Callie Justice, who carded a 51. Hemry’s 56 matched Maysville’s Ali McManus in the next slot. Rains and Hart shot 57 and 58, respectively, for Gallatin. Jenni Teel added a round of 64 for the hosts.
Gallatin defeated Maysville, 265 to 281, in junior varsity action on Thursday. Dutro’s 63 topped 13 jayvee competitors. Johnna Tadlock and Sarah Morrison each shot 66. Libby Endicott carded a 70, Kyler Stagner shot 72 and Cloey Waterbury added a 74 for the jayvee Lady Bulldogs.
