Two people received moderate injuries in an accident that happened at 6 p.m. on Sept. 14 in Grundy County.
According to the highway patrol, Hunter Krawitz, 19, Spickard, was driving a Honda Sport Track southbound on Third Street in Spickard. Austin Whitney, 22, Trenton, was driving a 2013 Chevrolet Cruze eastbound on Liberty Street. Krawitz failed to stop at a stop sign, continued into the intersection, and entered the path of Whitney. Whitney’s vehicle struck the passenger side of Krawitz’ vehicle, causing Krawitz’ vehicle to overturn.
The Krawitz vehicle came to rest on its top in the intersection, facing south. Mr. Whitney’s vehicle came to rest on its wheels in the intersection, facing east.
Krawitz and a passenger in his vehicle, Heather Ragle, 21, Altamont, were both transported by Grundy County EMS to Wright Memorial Hospital, both with moderate injuries. They were not wearing their seat belts.
The Honda had moderate damage. The Chevrolet had minor damage. The accident was investigated by Tpr. C.D. O’Hara, assisted by Sgt. J.J. Rongey.
