North Daviess R-3 was recently notified that the Grundy Electric Cooperative had selected the Knights for an educational grant applied during the 2018-19 school term.

The $500 grant written by Vera Nelson, in collaboration with Elementary School Counselor Louise Bird, involved printable workbooks and reading books for the dyslexia program at North Daviess.
Diagnosing students and empowering students with dyslexia is a DESE mandated program. However, not many resources are available for schools to be able to purchase and implement those needed resources for students.
Through this grant, North Daviess was able to purchase those needed materials to assist in the classrooms. North Daviess Principal Kelly Hightree commented that this grant will enable the North Daviess Knights to begin the needed steps to reinforce teachable dyslexia material.
The goal as always for “Knight Pride” is to give each student that walks through the doors at North Daviess the best resources for a successfully completed education.
