County Commission
Shannon Howe and Jon Dwiggins, Howe & Company, met with the commission to discuss issues on Bridge 430001.0-1 on Jump Avenue. The bridge is currently closed. A history of the engineering activity on the bridge was discussed, as well as options for this Soft Match project. David Cox made a motion to proceed with Howe & Co. recommendations; Wayne Uthe seconded, and the motion passed. Shannon will forward a new work order on this bridge to be signed and returned.
Shannon Howe and Jon Dwiggins, along with David Cox, 1st District Commissioner, met with James Lewis, road and bridge supervisor, to discuss the process to repair/replace this bridge. Howe & Co. will work up a bid proposal for partial construction of the bridge.
Rachel Taylor, Chautauqua Committee, met with the commission to discuss having a county float for the Chautauqua parade. The commission will determine if any of the office holders are interested and will let her know.
The commission granted permission to hire a substitute person to clean the courthouse while the custodian is on vacation. Ronetta Burton, county clerk, will find someone.
The commission decided to place an ad in the paper advising landowners that this is a good time to spray for thistles. Next spring they will be checking and sending out letters pursuant to RSMo 263.190-263.200.
Discussion was held regarding the flag issues. The commission will try to check on it this week.
Brush notices will be resent to all of the county landowners that have not completed their brush eradication within 30 days, or have not asked for an extension.
David Roll, Emergency Management Director, met with the commission to advise them that the “Gallatin CERT team” is not sponsored by the Daviess County Emergency Management Agency or by Daviess County.
Todd Miller, custodian, advised the commission that the water fountain in the third floor lobby is leaking. The commission will look into repairs.
The commission granted 30-day extensions for brush removal to Missouri Lands LLC; Kathleen Crabtree, a Benton Township resident; and Ann McCrary, a Jefferson Township resident.
Jim Ruse and Wayne Uthe left at 11:45 to attend a meeting in St. Joseph.

Circuit Court
Before Judge Jason Kanoy on Sept. 6, Edgar D. Jaime of McPherson, KS, was sentenced to four years in the Department of Corrections on each of two felony counts, DWI and leaving the scene of an accident, sentences to run consecutively. The court retains jurisdiction and ordered a 120-day institutional treatment program. He was sentenced to 137 days in the regional jail for careless and imprudent driving and 15 days for littering, sentences to run concurrently, with credit for time served. He was fined $500 for misdemeanor no valid license and ordered to pay restitution of $6,403.44.

Bryan, Jamesport, two D felony counts of unlawful possession of firearm.
