Ann and Keith Salyer are both members of the CMA. Ann is the daughter of the late Perley and Minnie Huffman of rural Daviess County and has lots of family in the area. Keith is the son of Gordon and Sue Salyer and grew up in Kansas City. They live in Arizona but will be moving to Daviess County to be closer to family next spring.

Keith Salyer gave a testimonial about CMS recently at the Jamesport Baptist Church.
Keith Salyer and his wife Ann, a 1971 graduate of Gallatin High School, recently witnessed to the Jamesport First Baptist Church about the Christian Motorcyclists Association.
Keith told the congregation during their Sunday service, that motorcycle ministry is about reaching people others can’t. Not just anybody can preach to a motorcycle club.
“Motorcycle ministry is all about respect,” Keith says. “You show them respect, they show you respect. We don’t judge, we don’t look down. It is a ministry where you just can’t come out and start preaching, you have to ride with them, camp with them, and build relationships. They need to know that you are the real deal.”
The Christian Motorcyclists Association is an international Christian, interdenominational, non-profit organization established in 1975. Its purpose is evangelizing to the motorcycling community.
“The major difference between the Christian Motorcycle Association and many other bikers is Jesus,” Keith says. He and Ann currently belong to the CMA in Apache Junction, AZ, but expects to change to a more local CMA when they move to Daviess County next spring.
Keith has been with CMA for 20 years, over 15 years in leadership positions. He was road captain from 2000 to 2005 (five years); vice president in 2005 (one year); chaplain 2008 to 2011 (three years); president from 2011 to 2016 (five years); and is currently serving as chaplain again in 2019.
He travels all over the country on his Harley Davidson Ultra Classic and shares the good news about Jesus whenever and wherever he can.
“When we stop and pump gas, we witness to the people on the other aisle of pumps, when we stop at a diner to eat, we ask the bus boy if there’s something he would like us to pray for him about.”
Keith says one of his more memorable moments was ministering to inmates at the Florence, AZ, prison.
“We had a whole circle of inmates singing Amazing Grace,” he says. He adds: “Also, performing weddings for bikers at a rally. Going to Belize in Central America and giving away motorcycles, quads, and bicycles to missionary pastors. Baptizing dear friends into the family of Jesus Christ in church.”
The CMA holds an annual fundraiser, Run for the Son. Last year, the Club raised nearly $4.8 million. They give 60% to their missionary partners and use 40% for motorcycle ministry across the world.
CMA is a worldwide ministry in 34 countries. The CMA reaches people across the globe and 64 countries through its missionary partners.
Its ministry partners are Missionary Ventures, which supplies transportation to missionaries across the globe — from a motorcycle, to a horse and buggy, and even a camel.
Another partnership is called Open Doors which smuggles Bibles into closed countries.
A third partner is the Jesus Film Project which has been translated into 1,600 languages across the world and shown in the most remote parts of the world.
“For every dollar we raise, 10 people will see the film and one person will come to know Christ,” Keith says.
CMA gave each one of its missionary partners a check for $960 some thousand. This money has to be accounted for and used specifically for ministry, not for administration of the organization
“A person with CMA contacts a person for Jesus every 41 seconds, 365 days a year, and leads somebody to Jesus every 57 seconds, 365 a year,” Keith says.
