The North Daviess School Board decided to take a voluntary rollback on the tax rate and set it at last year’s 5.2838, which was lower than recommended, in order to help ease the burden on taxpayers.

During the Tax Rate Hearing held Aug. 19, Superintendent Dan Street recommended the tax rate be set at 5.4059 due the nearly $200,000 drop in assessed valuation. Discussion was held on what overall revenue would be generated at 5.4095 verse if the district kept the same tax rate as last year at 5.2838.
The board felt that the district is doing well financially and decided to help ease the burden on district taxpayers by voluntarily electing to keep a lower tax rate than what was allowed and recommended.
The Annual Secretary of the Board Report was approved as presented.
Coaching/coop duties were finalized as follows: Jesse Crump: junior high softball with Gilman City and Pattonsburg; Troy Kull: varsity baseball; Becci Roberts: varsity softball, track, elementary basketball; Annette Lowrey: junior high basketball, academics, and elementary basketball; Jake Cook: varsity basketball; Julie Hefley: senior sponsor and spelling bee; Bonnie Yates: junior sponsor; RayAnn Armstrong: FFA, Stu Co; Jonathan Elder: FBLA and tech; Sarah Groteluschen: music/band.
During administrative reports, Principal Kelly Hightree reported that after three days of school, attendance is 99.61% for elementary, 99.83% for high school totaling 99.72%.
Enrollment is 62 currently.
New teachers will be attending training in Maryville on Sept. 11.
A free back to school supplies night was held July 26 with over 30 students attending.
FFA participated in the Jameson Picnic; hosted an ice cream social; and attended Agri-Science Day.
Staff in-services were held Aug. 12-15.
The softball field at North Daviess will be used for junior high softball practices and possibly a game or two through the JHSB Coop.
Grandparents Day will be Sept. 6 for all students in preschool through sixth grade.
Superintendent Dan Street reported that the new 65 passenger bus was delivered on Aug. 12 with air conditioning, air ride suspension, and a multitude of advanced safety features. Some minor detail work is still to be done on the bus.
A new air conditioner unit was installed for the preschool room, counselors room, and main office.
The playground addition had been delayed due to weather with no make-up work day scheduled at this time.
A meeting has been scheduled with local agencies to discuss emergency preparedness plans.
No executive session was needed.
