James E. Bowman, 88, St. Joseph, died on July 25, 2019.
James was born in Winston, the son of Dewey and Mable (Willits) Bowman, on May 28, 1931.
He graduated from the Winston High School in 1949. James was drafted into the Army in May of 1952 and was a veteran of the Korean War.
After his service, he farmed and later went to work at the Stride Rite Shoe Factory in Hamilton for 36 years until retirement.
James married Mary L. (Brant) Elliott on March 12, 1988.
He was a member of the Fairview Church.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Dewey and Mable Bowman; sisters, Dollie Jones and Wilma Katherine Bowman Johnson; and brothers, Donald, Lloyd, Junior and Merlin Bowman.
Survivors include his wife, Mary of the home; step-daughter, Diana Elliott; stepson, James E. Elliott; and two grandchildren.
