Daviess County Sheriff’s Office Incident Summary

Alfred B. Sprouse of Gallatin was arrested July 22 and taken to Daviess-DeKalb County Regional Jail (DDCRJ). He was charged July 12 with four counts child molestation, sexual contact with student, and third degree assault. Bond was denied. Sprouse, a former Winston teacher, had also failed to appear for a July 16 hearing in Daviess County on previous charges.

Jesse Phipps, 21, Gallatin, was charged July 18 with leaving the scene of an accident, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, and failure to maintain financial responsibility, all misdemeanors. According to the probable cause statement, Phipps was the driver of a 2003 Ford Taurus which was involved in a crash on Highway CC in Daviess County on July 17. Phipps drove the vehicle to a Gallatin address and parked the car about 300 yards behind the residence in a back field. The license plate of the vehicle was found at the scene of the crash. A consent search of the residence revealed marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Phipps was transported to the DDCRJ on a 24-hour hold.

8:41 am – Assisted fire department with car fire on Highway 6 west of Industrial Park.

3:10 pm – Jamesport, out regarding report of property damage.

4:05 pm – Lake Viking, report of burglary alarm at residence. False alarm.

9:56 pm – Gallatin, report of possible threat to home owner. Checked and all is okay.

11:10 am – Gallatin, report of problem with traffic lights at the Grand River Bridge.

11:30 am – Traffic lights are back up and running.

1:17 am – Jamesport, man reported to be suffering from a seizure; taken to hospital.

6:53 pm – Pattonsburg, report of juvenile missing.

12:12 pm – Gallatin, report of cows out on Highway P and Highway K. Owner contacted.

6:08 pm – Report of domestic issue in vehicle on Highway 6 and CC Highway. Parties have separated.
