Three people were injured in an accident that happened at 6:13 a.m. on June 12 in Clinton County.
According to the highway patrol, the crash occurred as Eric Teel, 24, Gallatin, and Alfred Guzman, 52, Wharton, TX, were both southbound on I-35.
Mr. Teel was driving a 2012 Dodge Charger at a high rate of speed. He attempted to pass Mr. Guzman’s vehicle, a 2019 Kenworth.
His car struck the rear left corner of the towed unit, spun, and came to rest in the median. The Kenworth came to a controlled stop on the west shoulder of southbound I-35.
Mr. Teel had moderate injuries and a passenger in his vehicle, Wesley Calloway, 24, Gallatin, had serious injuries. Both were taken to Cameron Regional Medical Center by Cameron EMS. Neither were wearing their seat belts.
Mr. Guzman had minor injuries and was also taken to Cameron. He was wearing his seat belt.
The Charger was totaled. The Kenworth had moderate damage.
The accident was investigated by Sgt. J.H. Thompson, assisted by Sgt. J.M. Cross, Clinton County and Cameron Fire Department.
