Rita Jacobs, 80, Chula, received minor injuries in an accident that happened on Highway 36, two miles west of Stewartsville.
According to the highway patrol, Ms. Jacobs was driving a 2006 Honda Pilot. Ronald Nichols, 78, Jamesport, was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado, both westbound. Ms. Jacobs’ vehicle struck the towed unit of the Nichols vehicle. After impact, Mr. Nichols’ vehicle jackknifed, drove off the north side of the roadway and overturned. It struck two traffic signs and came to rest on its top, facing east. Ms. Jacobs’ vehicle came to a controlled stop in the driving lane of westbound Highway 36.
Ms. Jacobs was transported to Mosaic Life Care by DeKalb Clinton Ambulance. She was wearing her seat belt.
The Honda had extensive damage. The Silverado was totaled. The accident was investigated by Tpr. J.J. Thompson, assisted by Sgt. A.A. Henry, and Stewartsville Fire Department.
