Gallatin Fire Protection District was dispatched to Honey Creek Ranch on Ridge Avenue for a shed fire at 7:25 p.m. June 5. Engine 101 and Tanker 103 responded with seven personnel. While responding, firefighters could see a thick column of black smoke in the vicinity.

Upon arrival firefighters found a 130×140 foot metal outbuilding fully involved with flames 30 feet high. Fire crews deployed two 1¾-inch attack hose lines for extinguishment. Mutual aid tankers were requested from Jameson Fire District, KAW Fire District, Lake Viking Fire, and Jamesport Fire District. A water shuttle operation was utilized to control the massive fire. Daviess County EMS and Daviess County Sheriff Deputies also responded.

The building, owned by Steve McBee, was used to store farm machinery and equipment. It was completely destroyed and may have been started by lightning.
