Richard Lee Morgan, 92, formerly of Gallatin, passed away April 8, 2019, at the Missouri Veterans Home of Cameron. “Dick,” as he was known by family and friends, was born July 5 in Gordon, NE, to Glen Clarence and Frankie Linnet “Pitkin” Morgan. He was the youngest of five children.

In the spring of 1935, the family moved back to Shannon City, Iowa. His father ran a filling station and his mother cared for the family in home. Dick graduated from Shannon City High School and was drafted into the army. He was a proud veteran to have served in the Pacific Philippines in World War II.
After his honorable discharge from the army he had several jobs in Nebraska and Iowa. Later he owned his own trucking company and worked in the truck industry for 45 years. Even while he was running the trucking company he enjoyed his life as a gentleman farmer in Liberty.
Throughout his life he was interested and involved with politics of his country. After retiring he moved to Gallatin where he enjoyed gardening, walking, and helping his neighbors. In January 1998 he was joined in marriage to Lois J. Santoro of Kearney.
Also, his entire family was always important to him. Dick was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Elton, Howard, Clarence Gene and Rex Leroy and one sister, Doris Rose “Morgan” Foley.
He leaves to mourn his devoted wife Lois and several nieces and nephews. He requested no formal service and his cremation to be entered into the Oak Lawn cemetery in Shannon City, Iowa.
