Elizabeth Marie Wilkinson, 40, and William Douglas Wilkinson Jr., 42, both of Winston, were each charged May 14 with two counts of child endangerment. William Wilkinson has also been charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of illegal weapon and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to probable cause statements, Daviess County Deputies Caleb Ireland and Larry Adams were assisting the Division of Family Services with a home visit May 13 due to an anonymous hotline call regarding the residence at 106 E. Second Street in Winston.
Upon entry to the home, there was a strong odor of animal urine and feces. The home contained multiple animals, and a substantial amount of animal fecal matter on the floor. The home also contained a large number of fleas, gnats and flies.
Persons in the home at the time included Elizabeth Wilkinson, a 17-year-old juvenile, and an infant only a few days old. Two other juveniles, ages 10 and 15, reside in the home but were not present at the time.
William Wilkinson Jr. was also not present, but several weapons were found in the bedroom which he occupied. Items seized include a Ruger LCP .380 caliber pistol with two loaded magazines, a body armor vest with hard bullet resistant plates in the front and rear, nine loaded AR-15 rifle magazines and one fully loaded 9 millimeter handgun magazine, and two sets of handcuffs. Marijuana paraphernalia was also found in the bedroom. Found in an upstairs bedroom was numerous rounds of ammunition, multiple round of 5.56 MM and 12 gauge shotgun rounds.
Due to the extreme filth in the home, deputies were unable to search the residence further due to respiratory issues.
Previous felony convictions for William Wilkinson Jr. include tampering first degree and knowingly burning or exploding in 1995, and stealing in 1997. As of presstime on May 22, Wilkinson had not been taken into custody.
