Minnesota man arrested for drugs in traffic stop

Benjamin Devine, 20, Eden Prairie, MN, was arrested and charged with felony possession of a controlled substance, misdemeanor possession of marijuana, and misdemeanor unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia in a traffic stop at 9:40 p.m. on May 19. According to the probable cause statement prepared by Trooper J. Thompson, the vehicle was pulled over for speeding at the 61 mile marker on I-35 in Daviess County.

The driver of the vehicle, Jack R. Zurn, advised the trooper that his passenger, Benjamin Devine, was in possession of drugs and paraphernalia. Trooper Thompson located cocaine, marijuana and paraphernalia in the vehicle. Devine said that all of the items belonged to him, and he was placed under arrest. Devine was then transported to the Daviess DeKalb Regional Jail (DDRJ). Judge Adkins set the bond at $25,000 cash only with a 10% deposit allowed.

Bethany man charged with domestic assault, kidnapping

James Whitt, 22, Bethany, was arrested May 20 and charged with two counts of felony domestic assault and misdemeanor kidnapping in connection with an incident at a Pattonsburg residence.

According to the probable cause statement, Deputy Caleb Ireland responded to the call at 2:13 a.m. James Whitt had fled the scene but was later arrested in Bethany. The victim stated that an argument with Whitt had turned physical. Whitt is currently on probation in District 2 for a prior incident of domestic assault. Judge Adkins set the bond at $35,000 cash only.

12:17 AM – Phillip Cason, 28, Chicago, IL, was arrested and charged with felony assault, felony attempted burglary, misdemeanor domestic assault and sexual misconduct. Judge Adkins set the bond at $100,000 cash only.
