On May 14, Phillip Cason, 28, Chicago, IL, was charged with felony assault, felony attempted burglary, misdemeanor domestic assault and sexual misconduct after an incident on Lock Springs Lake Street, Jamesport, on May 13.
According to the probable cause statement, Cason had attempted to initiate sexual intercourse with the victim, his unwilling paramour, who was caring for a 9-month-old child at the time of the incident.
Cason left the residence, as requested by other occupants of the residence, but returned a short time later and began arguing with another victim who attempted to keep him from entering the residence. Cason struck him in the jaw causing physical injury.
Cason refused to comply with Daviess County Deputies Kyle Cornett and Robert Mazur when they responded to the call. He continued to argue with other occupants of the residence, as well as with the two deputies. He was then taken into custody. Judge Adkins set bond at $100,000 cash only.
According to Cason’s criminal history, he was charged with assault and battery in Virginia in 2011. He also pled guilty to indecent exposure in Texas in 2014. He has two failure to appear warrants, one from Virginia and the second from Texas.
