Katie Shalz, 95, St. Joseph, passed away Wednesday, May 15, 2019, at a local healthcare facility.
She was born April 2, 1924, in Gallatin, Missouri.
Katie married Leon Shalz on Sept. 19, 1942, he preceded her in death on Sept. 7, 2002.
She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. Katie was Mom and Grandma to more than just her own children.
She enjoyed her family, cooking, camping and fishing; just loved life. Katies favorite holiday was St. Patricks Day.
She was also preceded in death by: her parents, Edward and Crystal (Gilreath) Vanover; sons, Stephen and James Shalz; three sisters; and two brothers.
Survivors include: son, Ronald Shalz (Suzan); daughters, Patricia Logan, Ruth Sparks (Bill), Regina Osborn, Debbie Lawrence (Mike); 18 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial 10 a.m. Monday, St. Mary Catholic Church.
Interment Mount Calvary Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Simplify Cremations & Funerals.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest donations be made to American Cancer Society.
