Winston R-6 offered teaching contracts to all returning teachers for the 2019-2020 school year during their March 18 Board of Education meeting. Paige Burns of Lathrop was hired to teach third grade for the 2019-2020 school year.

Winston school will be in session until May 29 this year. The board adopted next year’s (2019-2020) school calendar. The calendar has 171 student days and corresponds with the VoTech calendar on the majority of scheduled days. The first day of classes will be Aug. 15 and the projected last day of school is May 14.
Teachers presented a proposal to restructure class and organization sponsorship.
Board policy updates were approved.
April 15 was set as the date to reorganize the board.
School bus inspections were held April 9. The VoTech bus was inspected at Bethany on March 11 and passed.
Winston participated in the statewide tornado drill earlier this month. All classes were in their designated areas in approximately one minute.
The elementary principal reported on the following: health fair by Parents And Children Together; Gallatin Police Department child identification appointment; Daviess County Water Festival; Polkadots: The Cool Kids Musical; DARE instruction; and the book fair.
February Character Kids of the Month were preschool, Tolli Mozingo; kindergarten, Eliza Hunt; first, Gracie Youtsey; second, Davie Kimble; third, Lois Bain; fourth, Nash Nelson; fifth, Destiny Londo; sixth, Nancy Kimble.
The high school principal reported on the academic teams tournament at Gilman City; FFA contest season; and band competition in Maryville in the Missouri Small Schools Band Association Large Ensemble Contest.
