The Pattonsburg Board of Aldermen returned from a closed session on March 12 with a raise for Water Superintendent Adam Albert of $1,500 a year and his salaried hours increased to 60; and an hourly raise for City Clerk Karen Shepherd to $17.50 across the board.
Council members’ yearly wages were raised from $400 to $650 and the mayor’s wage from $650 to $900, which will go into effect in 2020.
Five new truck bids were received. Pettijohn’s bid on the new truck was accepted at $28,023.
The trade in price from Terry Implement Company on the Ferris Mower of $4,900 was accepted.
Chester Smith was present to inquire about land for sale and zoning requirements.
A zoning hearing was held March 11. Those in attendance were Lonnie Luke, Lucille Lusk and Karen Shepherd to represent the city. No one from the community attended.
After first and second reading an ordinance was accepted proposing updates, corrections, and revisions to the existing zoning regulations for the City of Pattonsburg adopted Nov. 12, 1998, as previously amended from time to time.
Monthly reports were reviewed and bills paid.
Ryan Thurman attended the meeting to ask the council for an adjustment on his sewer charge due to a water leak. The board agreed to adjust the sewer charge based on usual monthly usage.
Industrial Development Association representative Tracey Dixon was present to let the council know that Penny Sperry was interested in getting appointed to the IDA board. The board carried a motion to appoint her.
A motion was approved to advertise for an alderman to fill an open position until the next election in 2020, and for a full-time utilities clerk. A motion to get bids on health insurance was also approved.
The board entered closed session to consider the hiring, firing, disciplining or promoting of particular employees.
The next meeting is April 15.
