There will be a big weekend of activities to benefit the family of Howie Lynch on Friday and Saturday, May 3-4 in Trenton, hosted by the Laredo R-7 school faculty and staff. Howie, who works for Trenton Coca-Cola Bottling, Inc., is battling cancer. His wife, Michelle, teaches in the Laredo school system.

Riverside Country Club in Trenton will host a 4-person scramble golf tournament on both Friday and Saturday (may play either day). The cost is $200 per team. Tee times are at 7:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. To enter, contact Dave Bain at 660-654-0679 or Wendell Lenhart at 660-635-0267.

A barbecue dinner is open to the public at 5 p.m. on Saturday. An auction of donated items, including a suite to a Kansas City Royals baseball game, will begin at 6 p.m. There will also be a 50/50 raffle. T-shirts will be available for $10 and all proceeds from the 2-day events go to help with medical expenses for Howie and his family .
