Additional Daviess County charges have been filed against Amanda Rainey, 35, who is currently set for a jury trial in Livingston County April 23-25 on a change of venue from Daviess County. She is awaiting trial on charges of trafficking in stolen identities, stealing, possession of controlled substance, identity theft, possession of marijuana, and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia

The additional charges against Rainey, filed in Daviess County on March 27, are financial exploitation of an elderly person, stealing $750 or more, and stealing, all other property, all D felonies.

According to the probable cause statement, Rainey obtained access to bank accounts of two individuals in August 2018 and withdrew approximately $2,400 from the accounts. She also transferred funds to secondary financial devices and institutions, including prepaid debit cards, third party credit devices and Paypal, utilizing credit devices stolen from a purse in a Gallatin residence.

Rainey and her husband Johnny were both arrested after a search warrant was executed at their Gallatin residence located at 1101 South Willow Street, on Oct. 7, 2018. During the search a large amount of mail and personal documents from numerous persons in Daviess County was found. Stolen items from at least five Gallatin residences were also seized during the search. They were initially charged with stealing $750 or more, possession of controlled substance, identity theft, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Later they were both charged with trafficking in stolen identities, Amanda on Nov. 5, 2018, and Johnny on March 19, 2019.

Amanda Rainey’s cases were transferred to Livingston County, where her jury trial is upcoming, on a change of venue from Daviess County. Johnny Rainey’s cases are still in Daviess County with no trial set at this time.
