Chairman Arvella Eaton informed the Winston Board of Trustees at their meeting March 4 that her term ends in April of 2019 and she will be stepping down as mayor of Winston. She will not serve on the board any longer due to health problems.
Sewer operator Melvin McFee also informed the board that he will be leaving the Village of Winston as well due to personal reasons. He will continue to operate the Altamont-Winston sewer lagoon and will help to train the next operator.
Village clerk and utilities clerk Amber White also informed the board that she would like to hand over her job responsibilities as well, due to choosing another career path. The clerk will also continue to work for Winston until a suitable candidate can take over the clerk responsibilities.
The clerk is to advertise for all job openings and contract positions to set up interviews for the next board meeting.
Income and expense accounts were approved.
The utilities clerk distributed a new list of delinquent customers, including one due for shutoff. The board spoke of hiring a new contractor to install sewer shutoffs. The clerk is to contact potential candidates and have them attend the next board meeting.
Melvin McFee reported everything is working properly as far as sewer maintenance and there are no new problems.
Quentin Hunt spoke to the board about ordinance enforcement, including damage at the park; and a fence needing to be installed to keep vehicles off the grass. The board agreed and would like the fence to be installed as soon as possible.
Nichole Gregornik informed the board the Winston Historical Society is planning on having a meeting at 4 p.m. on March 24. The Historical Society is planning the Jesse James Days event and needs volunteers to help.
The next regular board meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. on April 1.
