A bid opening was held at 10:30 a.m.
CART Rock bids were received from Norris Quarries, Trager Limestone, and Flory Quarry. Those present were Art Sumpter, Norris Quarries; Julie Wieland, Wieland Hauling; and Aaron Trager, Trager Limestone.
Culvert bids were received from Metal Culverts and Schulte Supply. Rip Anderson from Metal Culverts was present.
Wayne Uthe made a motion to accept the county-wide bid for all classes of rock from all three quarries that submitted bids; David Cox seconded, and the motion passed.
Wayne Uthe made a motion to accept Norris Quarries’ bid for 1.25” CART rock for Benton Township, Flory Quarry’s bid for 1.25” CART rock for Daviess County Special Road District, and Trager Limestone’s bid for 1.25” CART rock for all other Townships and Road Districts; David Cox seconded, and the motion passed. The lowest bid was accepted for all entities except one that was a tie. The commission went with the township’s choice for that bid. The county-wide bids are priced without delivery, and the entity bids are priced with delivery. All rock bids are pending signing of contracts with Daviess County.
David Cox made a motion to accept bids from both Metal Culverts and Schulte Supply for corrugated metal and poly culvert pipe; Wayne Uthe seconded, and the motion passed. Both bids are for delivered price, any quantity. All culvert bids are pending signing of contracts with Daviess County.
Aaron Trager, Trager Limestone, met with the commission to discuss issues with a road in Sheridan Township.
James Lewis, road and bridge supervisor, updated the commission on ongoing work. His crew will be working in the shop servicing equipment this week and repairing the track hoe.
Assessor Sally Black met with the commission to advise them she had a few computer errors this week.
Discussion was held in regards to the problem with the township gravel roads this time of year. Some area flooding issues were also discussed.
Junior Hogan, Liberty Township resident, met with the commission to discuss gravel roads in his area. He was referred to the Liberty Township Board.
Todd Miller, custodian, met with the commission to discuss boiler access and supplies questions. Approval was granted to purchase a cleaning cart and receive a key to the boiler room.
David Roll, Emergency Management, met with the commission to discuss new grant opportunities, and update them on existing grant requests.
The commission checked roads, culverts and bridges in Jamesport and Jackson Townships, and Lock Springs Special Road District in the afternoon.
Robert Mazur, deputy, and Buddy Weller, court security, met with the commission to advise them that Deputy Mazur will be conducting an active shooter training in the courthouse for all county officials in the next few weeks.
The meeting adjourned at 4:30 p.m.

Circuit Court
The following cases were heard by Judge Ryan Horsman on March 13:
A warrant was issued for Tyler Parker on a probation violation with bond set at $5,000 cash only. Parker was charged with forgery, D felony, in 2015.
Charles R. Bradshaw II pled guilty to an amended charge of property damage, A misdemeanor, and misdemeanor careless and imprudent driving. One charge was dismissed. He received a suspended imposition of sentence and two years probation, and was ordered to pay restitution.
Jeffery Paul Poage pled guilty to possession of controlled substance, D felony, and misdemeanor speeding. A sentence assessment report was ordered.
A jury trial for Dennis L. McBroom was vacated, and the case was continued with bond set at $35,000.00 cash, 10% deposit allowed.
Civil cases filed: Teresa Smith vs. Lucas Smith, both of Jamesport, dissolution of marriage; Lainie D. Mason, Gallatin, vs. Christopher C. Mason, Kansas City, dissolution of marriage.
