On Feb. 21, approximately 50 students, teachers and home school families visited the special exhibit “EXPLORE SPACE: A Cosmic Journey” at the Daviess County Library in Gallatin.
The exhibit panels were manned by Daviess County retired teacher volunteers, Tammy Gay, Sherry Golden and Barbara Wilson.
Other guest instructors included local authors Jamie Beel and Vanessa Mullins of the Gallatin Writers Guild who facilitated a creative writing prompt and illustration station; Jill Steward of Jpeg Studio who helped students take selfies on the moon and Mars through a green-screen app provided by NASA@mylibrary; Bob Riddle, author of websites Bob’s Spaces and Que’ tal in the current skies, who assisted the students in requesting satellite images from EarthKam; Dan McCann, hometown “Science Man,” who enthralled students and adults alike with his comet science; and Dr. David Richardson, local resident and Northwest Missouri State University professor, who introduced the students to the multiple science gadgets provided by NASA@mylibrary.
The exhibit remains at the library through March and is available for groups to drop in, or schedule meetings around. Contact Elizabeth at 660-663-3222 to schedule your visit.
