The new 2019 Plat Books are available now at the Daviess County Soil & Water Conservation office on Ash Street.

James Lewis, road and bridge supervisor, updated the commission on ongoing work. His crew will be working on removing snow and ice around the courthouse this week. They have been replacing boards in Lincoln Township also this week.

Eric Corwin met with the commission to advise them about an issue with the wiring for the outside dome lights. The commission will investigate as soon as it is safe to go out on the roof. Eric will work on the colored lenses that go on the lights.

The commission will attend the Northwest Commissioners Meeting March 21 at the UM Forage Systems Research Center in Linneus.

The commission contacted Austin Hibler, MoDOT, to discuss possible solutions for Magill Bridge and Saber Road in Union Township. Mr. Hibler will contact the Corps of Engineers to seek their input.

The commission had a discussion regarding replacing the common lobby area light bulbs with brighter LED bulbs. David Cox made a motion to continue using the same bulbs we currently use. Wayne Uthe seconded; motion passed.

Discussion was held regarding brush issues in the county. More work will be done as soon as the ground settles in the spring.

Joe Hegeman, Sam Graves’ office, met with the commission to update them on federal legislation that is being considered this year.

Assessor Sally Black presented her training certificate for 32 hours to the commission.

Circuit Court

A jury trial has been set for Salvador Hernandez from June 18-21, with the pre-trial conference scheduled for May 15. Hernandez is the Gallatin restaurant owner charged with sodomy, kidnapping, assault, rape, and patronizing prostitution.

On Feb. 25, a dissolution of marriage was granted to Jerry Pierce Jr. from Paula Jean Pierce. Her maiden name of Paula Jean TenEyck was restored.

Cases bound over from the Associate Division: State vs. Scotty Eugene Kennedy, Altamont, possession of controlled substance, D felony, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, A misdemeanor; State vs. Mary Lou Browning, Coffey, two counts of stealing, D felony, and two counts of forgery, D felony;

State vs. Reuben E. Gingerich, Maryville, possession of controlled substance, D felony, and misdemeanors of possession of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, failure to register vehicle, and failure to maintain financial responsibility; State vs. Tara R. Hendrix, Brookfield, no valid license, E felony; State vs. Forrest Patrick Kelley, Gallatin, two counts of failure to register as sex offender, D felonies;

State vs. John E. Muller, Savannah, change of venue from Clinton County, possession of controlled substance, D felony, and two counts of distribution of a controlled substance in a protected location, A felonies.

Defendants found guilty to the Associate Division of the Circuit court of Daviess County, Missouri, are listed below with the offense and fine assessed. Additionally, court costs collected for the State of Missouri amount to $68.50 for moving traffic violations and $116.50 in most criminal cases. Judge Daren L.
