The adjacent buildings contained a pawn shop, a beauty shop and the chamber of commerce offices.
There were no injuries, but officials did report power outages at the time of the fire and traffic has been detoured.
Firefighters from Trenton, rural Grundy County, Chillicothe, Laredo, and Jamesport battled the fire. Princeton offered a ladder truck but crews were almost at capacity with the water flow.
Two of the buildings housing This n That Pawn Shop and Cuts and Curls collapsed; the third building housing the Trenton Chamber of Commerce and the state license bureau remained standing with the extent of damage yet to be determined.
The cause of the fire has not been determined and Trenton’s Fire Chief said he could not comment further due to an ongoing investigation. The state Fire Marshals have been notified and are conducting an investigation. (Photo courtesy of Mark Robinson and Linda Baugher)
