According to the state highway patrol, Billy Goble, 38, Weatherby, was driving a 2006 International School bus southbound on Old Havana Trail. He was traveling too fast for conditions and failed to negotiate a curve to the west. The bus traveled off the south side of the roadway through a fence and came to rest on its wheels in a field, facing south.

Kenneth Plymell, 9, McFall, was transported from the scene by the parents to their residence. The report states the parents might seek medical attention at a later time. The Pattonsburg School said Kenneth did not have to be hospitalized and is doing fine.

The bus had minor damage. The accident was investigated by Cpl. V.R. McBride, assisted by Cpl. B.R. Hilliard.
