Wednesday, Jan. 23, from 9 a.m. to noon, Deanna from the Active Aging Resource Center will join us to assess eligibility for Missouri Property Tax Credit Claims, which is a tax credit based upon paid real estate taxes or paid rent receipts.  Persons must be 65 years of age; or 100% disabled; or 60 years of age and receiving survivors’ benefits.  Online tax access is available in the library computer lab.

Additionally, library staff will help introduce an option for a free “facilitated self-assistance” program where taxpayers can prepare their own returns. This option is a link called “My Free Taxes” provided by United Way Worldwide with H&R Block. This option is free for all taxpayers with adjusted gross income of $66,000 (for tax year 2017) or less and includes up to three state returns, too.
