Gallatin teams headed to opposite sides of the brackets after opening round action in the 25th Annual Lawson Invitational Tournament.

The sixth-seeded Lady Bulldogs got off to a quick start but could not finish off host Lawson, falling 43-26 on Monday night. The fourth-seeded Bulldog boys broke open a close game against Carrollton with a late surge on Tuesday and advanced to the semifinal round with a 63-53 victory.
The Bulldogs caught fire in the fourth quarter after leading by only one point at the close of both the first half and third quarter. A 24-15 surge carried them into Thursday’s semifinal round where they will face top-seeded Lawson at 8:15 p.m.
Tristen Gibson led all scorers in the game with 28 points. Landon Corwin chipped in 12 points for Gallatin. Aidan Adkison tossed in 8, Dylan Burns added 6 and Riley Holmes contributed 5 for the Bulldogs. Gallatin shooters at the foul line hit 16 of 20 free throw attempts.
The Lady Bulldogs held a 15-10 lead over Lawson after one quarter of play but mustered only single digit scoring in each of the final three periods. Gallatin shot just 1-for-9 from the field in the second quarter and scored only 2 points in the third quarter on just 6 shot attempts from the field.
Addison Burns led Gallatin with 7 points. Karley Salmon chipped in 6, Madalyn Shubert added 5 points for the Lady Bulldogs. Caragan Baker and Maddison Michael each contributed 4 points.
The Lady Bulldogs will face seventh-seeded Carrollton tonight (Wednesday) at 7 p.m. for the right to play in Friday’s 5 p.m. consolation final.
