Donna Lee (Phillips) Love, 84, Independence, formerly of Gallatin, passed away Dec. 29, 2018, surrounded by her loving family.

Donna was born April 4, 1934, in Kansas City, to Laverne and Georgia Phillips. In 1951 she married Marvin Leroy Love making a home in Kansas City, later moving to Gallatin. Together they raised five children; David Love (Independence), Dennis (Sheryl) Love (Lake Ozark), Marsha Love (Lees Summit), Candice Prentice (Princeton) and Jason (Kendra) Love (Independence).

After moving to Gallatin in the mid 70’s Donna and Marvin owned and operated Love Buds Flowers & Gifts on the square. Donna was very creative and loved decorating and also enjoyed trips to the Casino.  She was a formidable Texas Hold Em player and entered several tournaments. Donna also loved Chiefs football, fishing and the outdoors.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents and husband Marvin in 1990.  In addition to her five children she is survived by eight grandchildren: Lauren (Clay) Kannard (Rome, Italy), Aimee (Nick) Heit (Saginaw, TX), Bryan Waldron (Little Rock, AR), Andrea Love (Denver, CO), Hunter Prentice (Gallatin), Charlee Prentice (Princeton), Karson Love and Jozie Love (Independence), along with seven great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Graveside services to be held at Mt. Moriah Funeral Home, Kansas City, MO, on Jan. 5, 2019, at 11 a.m.; the office will provide map to the gravesite. A Celebration of Life luncheon will be held immediately following service at Margaritas Restaurant in Martin City.  In lieu of flowers, family requests donations to Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org) or your favorite charity in her memory.
