The 42nd Annual Gallatin Invitational Basketball Tournament got off to a slow start thanks to the post-Thanksgiving snow storm, but not for this year’s top seeded teams.

Following postponement of Monday’s play, Trenton’s top-seeded girls came out Tuesday afternoon and blistered Gilman City, 78-10, to open the tournament. Hardin-Central’s third-seeded girls took down Maysville, 49-30.
Trenton’s #2 boys had no trouble taking care of Hardin-Central. Trenton walked away with a 61-8 win in Tuesday’s second game. Polo’s boys pulled off a mild upset on Tuesday, defeating #4 Maysville, 67-51, to move into Friday’s semifinal round.
Tonight’s (Wednesday) action sees the host Gallatin Bulldogs taking on Polo at 7 p.m. in the girls bracket, and the Bulldog boys will face Braymer following at 8:15.
Winston’s top-seeded boys, coming off a 57-40 victory over South Harrison last week, will open GIT play against Gilman City at 5:45. The Lady Redbirds, seeded fifth, will take on #4 Braymer at 4:30 on Wednesday. They also defeated South Harrison last week, 46-44.
In addition to winners’ bracket action now on Friday, Saturday’s slate will feature all six trophy games, beginning with the girls’ consolation at 9 a.m. and ending with the boys’ championship, slated for 4:30 p.m.
