The blizzard on Sunday caused many vehicular accidents, along with power outages in Altamont, Winston, and throughout Daviess County. Due to the weather and stranded vehicles, Interstate 35 became impassable. During this event the Daviess-DeKalb County Regional Jail opened its annex building as an emergency shelter. DDCRJ provided emergency supplies to the aforementioned stranded motorists. Thank you to all responders, fire departments, MoDOT, tow companies, Daviess County Central 9-1-1 dispatch, Daviess-DeKalb County Regional Jail, the Daviess County Emergency Management Agency and Daviess County deputies for handling this blizzard.

Allen Coates, 68, Gallatin, was arrested and transferred to DDCRJ on a Daviess County two-count felony warrant of possession of child pornography.
4:21 am – Report of horse out heading northbound on Highway V from south of Quick Avenue.
9:33 am – Report of about 15 cows out on Highway C, just west of 185th. Owner contacted.

12:31 am – Report of rollover on 140th Street north of Highway 69. Patient refusal.
1:47 am – Sydney Eddins, 19, Cameron, was transported to DDCRJ. Eddins attempted to flee on a gravel road when the Highway Patrol initiated a traffic stop for speeding on U.S. 69 Highway in Daviess County. She was unable to negotiate a curve on the gravel road and crashed. According to the probable cause statement, Eddins said she took the gravel road to avoid getting a ticket. A probable cause search revealed alcohol, marijuana and paraphernalia. She was transported to the DDCRJ for 24-hour investigative hold. A warrant issued for careless and imprudent driving, speeding, possession of drug paraphernalia, attempt to purchase alcohol, and failure to register vehicle. $1,000 cash only bond was posted.
