Walkway construction has started and the project should be completed by Feb. 1, 2019, according to minutes from the Nov. 14 meeting of the Gallatin Board of Education.
The new walkway will be built between the Gallatin Middle School and Searcy Elementary School. The walkway will have an aluminum canopy, enclosed with a heavy opaque material. White and red school lettering will be added.
November bills were approved.
Dr. Copple, Principals Burke, Collins and Thogmartin and Activities Director Gann presented their reports.
School board election filing dates are Dec. 11, 2018, through Jan. 15, 2019, for the April 2, 2019, municipal election.
Addison Burns was recognized for receiving 3rd Place at the National FFA Agriscience Fair in Division 5 Plant Science category.
Barb Holcomb presented her Vocational and Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) report.
The board approved renewal of CPSK insurance for liability and property for 2019.
Mark Higgins of Conrad & Higgins LLC, presented the draft of the 2017-18 audit report.
Mary Hacking discussed her real estate property taxes in regards to the levy and the walkway connecting the elementary to the middle school.
The board entered into closed session for discussing personnel.
