As a way to increase voter turnout in the ages of 18-30, Daviess County Supervisory Election Judge Dan McCann asked Kim Johnson, government teacher at Gallatin R-5, for some student volunteers to help out at the election. The students worked in groups of two and volunteered in two-hour shifts. They started at 6 a.m. and worked until 8 p.m.  Volunteers included not only some NHS members, but classroom students as well. Mrs. Johnson commented, “I’m so happy to be able to get the kids involved in the election process as not only as a hands-on learning experience, but for a great volunteer opportunity as well!” Student volunteers, shown front from left, were Haden Bradford, Ally Johnson, Jessica Hart, Claire Hemry; middle row, Sarah Morrison, Addi Stanley, Bethany Bailey, Mic Warner, Essie Williamson; back row, Keegan Allen, Aidan Adkison, Jacob Wilson, Dylan Burns, and Zoe Bradford.
