On Oct. 15, Vincent L. Sturgeon of Gallatin was arrested by the Gallatin Police Department as the result of a domestic assault investigation. Mr. Sturgeon was taken into custody without incident and was transported to the Gallatin Police Department for processing before being turned over to the Daviess DeKalb Regional Jail on Oct. 16.
According to the probable cause statement prepared by Gallatin Police Chief Mark Richards, Sturgeon was aggressively shouting at his girlfriend inside their joint residence on Cedar Street in Gallatin. When she attempted to leave, Sturgeon physically detained her by pushing her and her son onto the floor and holding them there.
The argument was heard by another person in the residence, Jeffery Rainey, who told Sturgeon to stop. Sturgeon then released his girlfriend and she once again attempted to leave the residence. Sturgeon again blocked her way and continued to argue with her, but Rainey allowed her to leave.
Sturgeon was charged Oct. 16 with three counts of kidnapping second degree, one count of domestic assault second degree, and one count of endangering welfare of a child, all D felonies. Bond has been set at $35,000 cash only.
