Jack Neal Coffman, age 81, passed away Oct. 15, 2018, at his home near Gallatin. No scheduled services are planned at this time. Cremation is entrusted to McWilliams Funeral Home in Gallatin.

Jack N. Coffman was born Oct. 19, 1936, the son of Hayden and Nadine (Thompson) Coffman in Trenton. The Coffman family moved to Atchison, KS, where Jack grew up and attended school. He enlisted in the Marine Corp in 1954 and proudly served his country for three years.
Jack was united in marriage to Barbara Franzel on July 13, 1957, in Atchison, where they briefly made their home. The couple moved to Kansas City in 1959 and in 1969 to Independence where they made their home and raised their daughter Julie.
Jack worked construction for a short period of time before beginning his career in the sheet metal industry. He was employed at United Sign, before moving to Acme Sign, where he worked the majority of his career. He retired in 1996 after many years of dedicated service.
Jack was skilled with his hands and could tackle any job with ease.
In 1996 the Coffman family purchased a farm north of Gallatin so they would be able to enjoy country life after retirement. Jack greatly enjoyed the farm and loved to care for his animals. In his spare time you could find him going to auctions. Spending time with his family was always special and he greatly enjoyed their visits. Jack was a loving husband and father who will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, step-father, Robert C. (Bob) Nance and step-mother, Mae Coffman, brother, Larry Nance, sisters, Eva (Topper) Meyer and Georgia Jiminez.
Jack is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Barbara of the home; daughter, Julie Coffman of Gallatin; brother, Robert E. (Butch) Nance of Omaha, NE; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
