Johnson competes in Class 1 state golf

Gallatin’s Ally Jo Johnson cut four shots off her opening day score with an 18-hole round of 99 on Tuesday and finished in 41st place in the MSHSAA Class 1 Golf Championships held at Mozingo Lake in Maryville.

Johnson shot a 103 Monday during a difficult day of golf with temperatures in the sub-40s. Play was suspended due to darkness and some golfers had to complete their opening rounds on Tuesday morning before joining the rest of the field for the second round.

Hamilton’s Sam Cornelius turned in the best area finish with rounds of 84 and 82 that placed her sixth in the field of 77 golfers.
