For the second season in a row, the Gallatin Bulldogs hit the halfway mark with a record of four wins and one loss, but their Grand River Conference schedule is about to get a lot harder.

Like Gallatin, next week’s opponent, South Harrison, has yet to lose a conference game. The same goes for Milan, Gallatin’s road opponent in two weeks. A little farther down the pipe, defending GRC champ Princeton has lost but once to Milan.

The Bulldogs head into Friday’s Homecoming matchup with South Harrison coming off a dominant, 48-6, victory at Polo last week. Gallatin sprinted to a 35-0 lead by the middle of the second quarter and added two more scores in the second half to commandeer the clock.

Graydee Rains met a Panther ball carrier at the line of scrimmage and popped the ball loose into the hands of Ayden Wayne, who ran untouched 26 yards to the end zone for Gallatin’s opening score. Rains added a three-yard TD run and Aidan Adkison a 54-yard scoring run late in the first quarter.

Haden Bradford scored for the Bulldogs midway through the second period. Quarterback Drayton Harris connected with Gaven Gray for 12 yards and a touchdown, also in the second quarter.

The Panthers got on the board before the end of the half. Gunner Keller ran in from a yard out, capping a drive set up by a long pass completion.

Adkison used his speed to score in the third quarter on a jet sweep. Rains added a short TD run with just under five minutes remaining in the contest.

Adrian Hernandez successfully kicked six of seven extra point tries. He also averaged 46 yards in kickoffs. Bulldog punter Tristen Gibson kicked twice for a 45.8 yard average.

A pass from Drayton Harris sails just out of reach of JJ Waters during Friday’s nights game against Polo.

Gallatin’s swarming defense kept Panther runners bottled up all night long.
