Gallatin Lady Bulldog golfers trailed only Stanberry in the Grand River Conference Golf Tournament held Monday in Cameron. Stanberry placed three golfers in the top five individuals and teamed up for a 390 to easily take the league crown away from Gallatin’s girls, who combined for a 437 total.
Ally Johnson and Jacklyn Maize gained all-conference status with top 10 finishes. Johnson led the Lady Bulldogs with a round of 98 to place fourth overall. Maize shot 107 to finish in 10th place.
Rounding out Gallatin’s varsity field were Jessica Hart, 114; Libby Endicott, 118 and Claire Hemry, 124.
Stanberry’s Allison Marticke took the GRC medalist honor with an 84. Trenton’s Werthern Gass shot an 85, followed by Putnam County’s Delaney Munden, 96; Stanberry’s Marissa Jensen, 97, and her teammate, Allie Gage, with a 98.
Gallatin won Tuesday’s makeup of a quad meet with Trenton, Lawson and Gallatin’s junior varsity participating. Gallatin took first with 226, followed by Trenton, 244; the GHS jayvee, 259; and Lawson, 261.
Trenton’s Werthern Gass took the medalist honor with a 47. Maize was runnerup for Gallatin with a 52. Other GHS varsity scores included Johnson, 53; Hemry, 59; Hart, 62; and Endicott, 66.
Jayvee scores were Johnna Tadlock, 63; Cloey Waterbury, 64; Jenni Teel, 64; with Jenna Rains and Sarah Morrison also participating for the Lady Bulldogs.
Stanberry defeated Gallatin, 195 to 227, last Thursday at Daviess County Country Club. Alli Gage took the medalist award with a 42. Teammate Allison Marticke was runner up with 42.
Maize and Johnson shot 51 and 55, respectively, to lead Gallatin. Teel shot a 62 for the jayvee squad, followed by Waterbury and Dutro with rounds of 63.
Gallatin is one of 13 Class 1 schools participating in district competition next Monday at Chillicothe’s Green Hills Golf Course.
