Bands announced for 2018 Chautauqua Sept. 14-15-16

Lonnie Curtis & the Point Blank Band will be the featured Saturday night entertainment during Gallatin’s upcoming Chautauqua slated for Sept. 14-15-16, 2018. The band features ’80s and ’90s country with Merle Haggard and Johnny Cash thrown in, performed by Lonnie Curtis of Gallatin, and others.

Lonnie has shared the stage with such artists as Chuck Wicks, Restless Heart, George Strait, Moe Bandy, John Anderson, Micheal Martin Murphy, Marie Osmond, Herman’s Hermits, Pat Green, Jerry Jeff Walker and Radney Foster, just to name a few. Band members are Lonnie Curtis, acoustic guitar/bass/vocals; Dave Trabue, lead guitar/bass guitar/vocals; Mike Boguske, drums; and Buddy Martin, lead guitar/vocals.

Saturday afternoon music will be performed by Hammertoe & the Fun Guys, featuring musical hits from the ’70s-’80s-’90s, performed by Gary Boyle, Daryl Spencer and others.

Bent Nickel will be performing at the beer garden Saturday night following the music on the main stage.

Other entertainment over the three-day event will include:

  • Professor Farquar & Polecat Annie: A husband/wife team offering storytelling and strolling entertainment.
  • Free kids’ movie: Friday on the north courthouse lawn, presenting the classic movie  “E.T.”
  • Kids “Touch-A-Truck:” Saturday,  one block east of the square on Maple Street. Join in the fun and help kids learn about hard-working machines that make our community rev!
  • Kids’ Games & “Carnival:” Saturday, on the south courthouse lawn — A fun “blow-up” obstacle course challenge sponsored by BTC Bank, presented as a fund-raising activity for GHS Band Boosters.
  • Tours at 1889 Squirrel Cage Jail: Saturday at 10am and 2 pm, on West Jackson Street .
  • Wine tasting and chalk art class at the corner of Jackson and Main, featuring four local wineries/breweries; commerative wine glass and wine bag with purchase of ticket.  Tickets available online by emailing [email protected].
  • Car and Tractor Show in front of City Hall on East Grand.

Here’s a tentative schedule —

Friday, Sept. 14: Kids’ pedal tractor pull; kids’ free movie “E.T.” on north side of square.

Saturday, Sept. 15: 5K walk/run, baby show, pet show, car and tractor show, Touch-a- truck, wine tasting and chalk art class, parade, bags tournament, beer garden.
