Six young males and six young females represented Missouri last week in the Southern Junior Cup held at Old Kinderhook in Camdenton, MO.
Gallatin’s Jett Simmons and Hamilton’s Sam Cornelius were among the participants for Team Missouri, which finished third in the two-day competition behind first place Alabama and second place Arkansas.
The golf competition featured a round of four-ball play, a round of alternate shot match play and singles competition on the final day.
Jett teamed with Allison Bray of Cape Girardeau in four-ball competition, dropping their match, 4 & 2, to a team from Arkansas. Sam and Ozark’s Connor Obert finished 1 up over their Mississippi opponents.
In the alternate shot format, Simmons and Camdenton’s Amber Wilson halved their match against Arkansas. Cornelius and Lane Plunkett of Eugene won their match, 2 & 1, against Mississippi.
Simmons defeated his Mississippi opponent in singles match play. Cornelius lost to her Alabama opponent in singles play.
