Due to the shortage of available hay this year, producers need hay and/or grazing acres to support livestock. Online resources to find forage are:
The University of Missouri Extension Hay Market Listing includes seller’s names, cities, counties and phone numbers of available forage.
- Sellers can be listed by either region or forage type.
- Bale type is included: small square, large square, small round, large round, baleage, or other.
- The number of bales and approximate weight of each bale of hay is included, and if the hay has been analyzed, crude protein, acid detergent fiber, neutral detergent fiber, relative feed value, and percent total digestible nutrients may be included.
- A final area for notes catches information such as “first cutting”, or “don’t call before 6 p.m.”
Hay listings will be left on the Agricultural Electronic Bulletin Board for 60 days.
The Missouri Department of Agriculture site lists available forage by county, hay type, bale type and hay location. There are other resources on this site for surrounding state hay directories and hay auctions.
USDA FSA’s online tool is called Hay Net. Hay and grazing acre ads will be automatically removed after a period of 13 months on this site.
Hay Net is brought to you by FSA as a public service. The sole purpose of this online resource is to provide a site for the exchange of information.
