Maxine Linville, 97, of Gallatin passed away Aug. 4, 2018, at the Daviess County Nursing and Rehab.
Private family services will be held at a later date with inurnment at Greenwood Cemetery. Arrangements: McWilliams Funeral Home, Gallatin.
Maxine was born June 18, 1921, the daughter of Ralph and Lea (Chenoweth) Weldon in Jamesport. She attended Swisher Country School and it was there she met the only love of her life, Hardy Linville. They were married June 18, 1939, in Gallatin where they lived their entire married life.
Maxine was employed at the Farmer’s Store, Woodruff’s Ice Cream, and the Ben Franklin Store.
In 1965 Hardy and Maxine opened Lakeview Drive-in on the west side of town. Maxine was the chief operator; she cooked, waited tables and greeted each and every one of her customers with a smile. It was always a treat to have one of her delicious tenderloins and great conversation.
She later volunteered at the thrift store in Gallatin for over 10 years. Maxine was a social person who loved to visit and could strike up a conversation with anyone. She never met a stranger.
Maxine was a member of the United Methodist Church in Gallatin and the Garden Club.
She was always eager to go to garage sales looking for that special find, in fact, you were able to rent her garage in order to have one yourself. You might say she loved shopping in general. In her spare time she greatly enjoyed working with her flowers and reading. Her kids and grandchildren were the pride and joy of her life, spending time with them was always special and she was interested in what they were doing.
Maxine was a loving mother and grandmother whose legacy of hard work, love of family and friends will live on in the hearts and minds of those who knew and loved her.
Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, husband Hardy, daughter Pamela Sutton, infant daughter, and daughter-in-law, Sharon Linville.
Maxine is survived by her daughter, Judi McCloud of Gallatin; sons, Don Linville of Atchison, KS, and Larry (Sharon) Linville of Ozark, MO; sister, Norma (Ray) Hammet of Trenton; eight grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
