Service was restored July 26 for customers of Public Water Supply District #2 Daviess County, due to a six-inch water line break south of Gallatin on M Highway.
Areas affected include the south end of Gallatin, down into Hamilton, from Vista Avenue south and east of 190th Street; and the Breckenridge area from Highway M south to Waltz Avenue and west of 300 Street.
High water usage was reported at about 7:30 a.m. on July 25 and the break was discovered at about 11:30 a.m., according to Wally Sperry, field supervisor. The dry ground caused by the continuing drought caused the pipes to move and pull apart.
The system was up and running the following day, about 4:30 p.m. on July 26, with “everything brand new put back in.”
