August is World Breastfeeding Awareness Month. The first week of August (1-7) is dedicated to World Breastfeeding Week. How awesome is that, to have a whole month dedicated to raise awareness about breastfeeding?

Over the last several years breastfeeding has been a taboo topic, but we are working towards overcoming that, which is fantastic!

Every year there is a “theme” to go with Breastfeeding Month; this year it is “Breastfeeding: Foundation of Life.” Breastfeeding is such a wonderful gift to be able to give your baby, despite the challenges that may come along with it.

Breastfeeding moms need support, encouragement, and love, and that is part of the reason for dedicating a whole month to breastfeeding. If you’re a breastfeeding mama (or know someone) that needs support, encouragement, or help please don’t hesitate to reach out.

I am more than happy to help. If you’re a breastfeeding mama that is able to reach out and help another mama that is struggling, please don’t hesitate to do so. Be part of the change of normalizing breastfeeding!

Saint Joseph Health Department does a wonderful job of putting together activities for World Breastfeeding Month and anyone is welcome to join in on those. There is a list below if you know anyone who may be interested! Grab a friend and join the fun!
