Melvin McFee

Candidates for the only primary race in Daviess County will appear at the Daviess County Farm Bureau Annual Meeting on Friday, July 27, at the Gallatin Lions Club Building. The public is invited. Please RSVP to 660-663-2700 by July 24.

Following a short business meeting at 6 p.m. and a catered dinner, Melvin McFee and Jim Ruse, both running on the Republican ticket for Daviess County Presiding Commissioner, will be on hand to speak and answer questions. Thus, the primary election on Aug. 7 will, in all probability, decide who succeeds outgoing Presiding Commissioner Randy Sims.

Melvin McFee is a lifetime resident of Daviess County and a U.S. veteran. He and his wife Betty have been married for 36 years. He retired from MFA Propane as the district manager after 15 years and then served as maintenance supervisor at Crossroads Correctional Center for 17 years. He has served two terms on the Winston School Board and 15 years on the Jefferson Township Board.

Jim Ruse was superintendent of the Gallatin R-5 School from 1990 to 2010. He more recently served as assistant superintendent at Chillicothe R-2 from 2010 to present, completing 44 years of service in education this spring. He has three degrees from Northwest Missouri State University at Maryville, B.S Ed., MS Ed, and Spec. in Ed. He and his wife Sheila reside in rural Gallatin.
