Funeral services for Alta Shoemaker were held July 17 at Turner Family Funeral Home, Stewartsville. Christian burial followed at Miriam Cemetery in Bethany. Memorial contributions may be made to Freeman Chapel in care of the funeral home.

Alta L. (Holcomb) Shoemaker, 98, St. Joseph, died on July 13, 2018, at Mosaic Lifecare in St. Joseph.
Alta was born in Coffey to Jesse and Myrl (Foster) Holcomb on July 4, 1920. On Oct. 14, 1940, she married Jesse Lee Shoemaker. Alta lived in the Easton area most of her life until moving to St. Joseph in 2009.
She and her husband owned and operated the filling station in San Antonio, MO, for 37 years. She was a member of the Freeman Freewill Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband; son, Garry Shoemaker; sisters, Lucille Slinkard, Elva Hudson and Arleyne Pash; and a brother, Delbert Holcomb.
Survivors include her daughter, Sharon (Virgil) Freeman; granddaughters, Shelly (David) Rapp, Sherry (Jeff) Hodges and Jill (David) Southern; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
